Martha Stewart gets 5-month jail sentenceAP[ FRIDAY, JULY 16, 2004 09:40:23 PM ]
WASHINGTON: Martha Stewart, billionaire lifestyle guru and designer of homes for the rich and famous, was on Friday sentenced to five months in prison, another five months of home confinement and two years of supervision, for lying to investigators about a dodgy 2001 stock sale.
US District Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum in New York subsequently granted Stewart a stay pending her appeal of the sentence, allowing her to remain free while the case goes forward. The appeal could take a year or more, lawyers said.
Oh, how exciting.
