I keep coming back to this article, and it keeps giving me more questions than answers. I understand his point about sugar. I wonder if the substitute I've been using creates or prolongs the same effects simply because it's derived from sugar... I wonder if there is any substitute I can use to change/disrupt this cycle... I am so frustrated with my GP and his intention to treat each symptom separately without looking at the larger picture, I wonder if I should demand he pass me on to a specialist, and what specialist would cover this ground? I wonder since this article deals extensively with treatment of children if it even applies the same for adults? lol My brain hurts.

To me it's evidence for Barry Sears' arguments for improving the protein/carb/fat balance in one's diet. Dump processed sugar, including corn syrup, and you're pretty much there.

:( I have been really good about not eating sugars... and cut back on simple starches too... lost 16 pounds over 4 weeks. However, my total cholesterol is raised now to 300. Fasting blood sugar was just over 100.

I'm afraid to eat anything anymore.

Whoa. I guess I don't know what to do about that.

Well, maybe I do know somethings. What are the LDL/HDL levels? What kinds of oils are you eating? Are you taking an omega-3 supplement? Borage, flax and cod liver oil are all good for that.

And cattle fed their natural, grass diet have the proper balance of omega-3s to omega-6s. They also provide an adequate source of CoQ-10.

Yeah, about the meat in these parts... it's anyones guess where it came from and what it ate and what uh, supplements it may have had... or if it's really even cow. Now, I'm completely off eating :D lol

I don't eat a lot of meat. 4 oz., maybe twice a week (same with chicken). Lots of veggies, tuna and salmon, rice... olive oil wherever oil is needed, Special K on the rare occasion I can stomach breakfast, cup of broth (or cup of tea) for lunch... I really don't eat much. lol I do take vitamins to make up for my lack of eating, maybe I'll try a fish oil too.

I let him put me on simvastatin. I've been avoiding them since Crestor did my muscles evil last year. But 300. Is too high. lol

Your diet sounds pretty much like what I'd recommend. I wish I were that disciplined. I've been on a McDonald's binge for a few weeks now. The scale's starting to show it, too.
